The iPhone 17 launch event is scheduled for September 9, according to documents from mobile carriers.
We previously suggested that Tuesday, September 9 would be the most likely date for the iPhone 17 launch, and a new report now shows that internal carrier documents confirm this. This means pre-orders will open on September 12, with shipping starting on September 19.
September 9 always seemed the most likely
Back in July, we looked at past patterns from 2021 to 2024 and narrowed the likely launch week to the one starting September 8. We noted that Tuesday was the most probable day. Based on this pattern, Apple is expected to announce the new iPhone 17 lineup during the week of September 8 — possibly on Monday the 8th or Tuesday the 9th. Apple generally prefers Tuesdays for iPhone launches, but last year it chose Monday to avoid the U.S. Presidential Debate scheduled for Tuesday.
Internal carrier documents support this
Mobile carriers need to prepare for the launch and sales in advance. German site iPhone-Ticker reports that it has seen internal documents from at least one local carrier showing the launch date as September 9. According to information from German mobile providers, this year’s launch will be on Tuesday, September 9 — exactly 35 days from the next major Apple event.
Three key dates to remember
After the keynote, Apple follows a consistent pattern: pre-orders open on the Friday of the same week, and shipping starts the following Friday. That means:
-
iPhone 17 keynote: Tuesday, September 9
-
Pre-orders open: Friday, September 12
-
First deliveries and in-store sales begin: Friday, September 19
